In March 2022, loads of the community came to help plant some of the 20,000 new trees on Bullcroft Pit-top, Carcroft.

We were all excited about it!  It was such a great month.

Unfortunately, the record breaking, hottest summer on record (42C) caused record breaking wild fires. One of those fires was on Bullcroft Pit Top. 

Scorched. The fire destroyed all the new plants.

Luckily the land is growing back. Sometimes a fire is good to make things more fertile. 
We’re looking at what should happen here next?

There will be some more re-planting. But there needs to be soil assessments etc. And this gives us an opportunity to talk and design what might be even better. 

We already have very active community groups and Brownies & Guides. But we’d love to hear from you too.
